Why Triumph Athletics?

Triumph Homeschool Community was formed
in February of 2008 to serve and support
all homeschoolers in the Bryan-College
Station and Brazos Valley area. Our goals
are to fill needs of local homeschool
families – social events, consistent
academic competitions, community service
activities, a common calendar, etc.

Triumph has recently been asked by several
homeschool families to provide another
resource for athletics.  While it was not
in our original plans, we began to
research whether or not Triumph could
meet this need.
Some key points to remember:

§      Our athletic program will be open
to any homeschooling family
in the Brazos Valley area.
§      Basic registration information,
medical release and health information
forms, as well as emergency contact
numbers, will be necessary.
§      Membership to the Lincoln Center
for practice availability is necessary.
§      All parents will be encouraged to
volunteer and help, no qualifications
necessary!

Our athletic program goals are:

   · To pursue an athletic program where
victories are the natural result of
quality coaching and player development.

   · To develop each player’s competitive
 spirit & attitude
NOTE:  For TRIUMPH, "competitive" is
defined as "an INTERNAL STATE OF MIND
within each player that says ‘I care
about how I play, how the team plays,
and whether or not we win or loose.’”
While end of season win/loss statistics
and championships are of value, they
will not be the major focus.

  · To offer the chance for every player on every
team to play in every game. This will
develop the ideals and concepts of team
instead of self; player development;
trust in and encouragement of team
mates.
NOTE:  Playing time will not be
equal in every game, but should be
approximately equal over the course
of the season.  It is up to the coach
to use wisdom, discretion, and good
judgment, as to when to which players
will play..  The coach will need to
analyze the opponents, the opportunities,
and Titan players to achieve this goal.
Parents will be needed to help keep
statistics.

   · To teach basic fundamental skills to
play the game to the best of each
players’ individual ability.  Practices
should focus on skill development!

 · To offer the chance to teach life
lessons and character values to students
unique to competitive team sports

We strongly encourage every family to
consider where your family will fit best
in the world of homeschool athletics,
and commit to participate there. Having
choices available frees each family to
find the sports and athletic program best
situated to their family. And so, the
Triumph Titans will take to the court
in the fall of 2008, starting with
volleyball, and basketball for high
school girls and junior high boys.
As requests are presented for other
team levels and sports venues, Triumph
will strive to fill those needs. Please
